Frequently Asked Questions
Pre-booking
How big are the classes?
The classes range from 6 to 10 people, depending on the course. In some cases you may find yourself in a class as small as 3. At Omni Academy of Beauty our policy is quality, not quantity.
How long are the courses?
This depends on what course you choose to do. They are designed to run as day or evening courses to fit around your life style.
I want to train as a qualified Beauty Therapist but can’t commit to the time, how can you help me?
You can build up your qualification in units, qualifying in single treatments as you go along. This way you will be able to complete one short course and then, when ready, complete another to build up your qualification. We are very happy to put an individual learning plan in place for you, so you can train in the most popular skills first and start earning money straight away.
Can you offer funding?
At the moment we are unable to offer funding for our courses. This is something we care currently looking into so that we can be more accessible to people looking for a high quality and standard of training to enter into the industry with. In the meantime we can recommend speaking to the PCDL (Professional and Career Development Loans) who will be able to guide you in the right direction and advise you on the possibility with funding.
Are the courses insurable?
All VTCT courses are fully insurable by all the leading Beauty Therapy insurance companies. Student insurance is also available so you can start working on clients at home as you are learning.
Preparing for your Class
Do I have to buy a kit?
Only if it is listed on the course details. You will need a kit to practice. Home practice is essential to develop your skills. I’m sure you will have willing clients.
If I am travelling a long distance is there anywhere I can stay?
There are plenty of hotels and B&B’s that we have recommended for your convenience. Please see the Local Accommodation section here.
Qualifications and Exams
Do I get a recognised Beauty qualification?
Yes, you will receive a VTCT Beauty Therapy qualification, which is recognized nationally and internationally and well respected in the industry. We also offer CIBTAC qualifications which can be taken as an optional, additional qualification.
Who are VTCT?
VTCT is a Government approved Awarding Body offering National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ’s) and other Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ’s). VTCT has been in existence for over forty years and has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom.
Do I have to take an exam at the end of the course?
Not necessarily. For the bigger courses such as Level 2 & Level 3 Beauty Therapy, VTCT qualifications are continually assessed. This means you will be assessed on your practical skills and your theory throughout the course. For the shorter courses you will be required to come back to the academy to carry out your practical and theory assessments. Assignments and case studies are completed at home to build up your portfolio. Any additional assessment days are indicated in the ‘Course duration’ section of the course page by “+ 1 assessment day”
What if I am not ready to take my assessments on the set date?
Don’t worry, we will give you an assessment date but if you are not ready at that time and need further practice we will re-set your date and give you the guidance you need.
