Patricia Dopemu VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques
I worked as an administrator for many years but went back to University, I graduated with a Law degree as a matured student and I got a job with the Home Office. I enjoyed the work because I love people and the job gave me the opportunity to meet people from all over the world. However, it did not give me the opportunity to give people that personal touch on a one to one basis. I have always loved the Beauty Industry, passionate beauty therapy as I usually have lots of beauty treatments myself. However, I sometimes find it difficult to get appointments for treatments, especially at the weekends. Also, I am experienced in Afro/Caribbean Hairdressing and managed a family-owned salon in London few years ago and I had a lot of satisfaction from it.
A combination of these things led me to start thinking of having my own beauty place, a haven where people can come to be pampered, unwind and relax. I started to look at how I can get a beauty qualification. I was a bit reluctant at first because studying for an NVQ qualification meant I would be studying with teenagers in the classroom. However, I found Omni Academy and discovered that the college catered for matured people looking for career change and offered flexible study times to fit around work and family.
I called the Academy and spoke to Carolyne, she was wonderful and everything was sorted out for me promptly and efficiently and I secured a place on the VTCT level 2 Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques Course in January 2010. I qualified and in August the year I set up Blossoms Hair and Beauty. I feel so fulfilled and I am in the process of booking a few Level 3 courses at Isis to add to my portfolio. I’m ever so grateful to Omni Academy and mostly to Carolyne for being instrumental to fulfilling a dream.
