What qualifications do you need to do makeup?
The VTCT Level 2 Cosmetic Makeup Course is a great way to get into the makeup industry.
Whether you are just starting to work and have a passion for makeup or you’re looking to have a change of career, this course teaches you all the introductory skills and techniques you will need to start your career.
This course will cover all you need to know about makeup and how to correctly and safely apply it. You will be taught the hygiene, health and safety and contra-indications and contra-actions which could affect the service you provide and how to identify and address these. You also cover cleansing and preparing the skin, skin analysis and how to identify and work with the different face shapes.
The makeup you will be taught involves Day and Evening makeup, special occasion makeup and corrective techniques. Additionally, as part of the course you will learn eyelash tinting and eyebrow shaping and tinting. This will give you an extra skill which your competitors may not offer, giving you all the techniques and skills needed to provide wedding and occasion makeup.
This course takes 4 Days (1 day a week for 4 weeks), 4 Saturdays or 8 Evenings (1 Evening a week for 8 weeks).

To begin your bridal makeup artist career a course which teaches you both day and night looks will be the best place to start. This will aid you to cater to any brides’ needs. As no bride is the same, they will all have varying desires and needs. Some will want a soft and natural look, while others will want a dramatic smokey eye and bold lip. You need to be able to provide what the bride requests, but also have the knowledge to suggest ideas, as some may need guidance on what you can achieve together and will suit them best.
